If you can find it, you should see it. Fitna is a slickly-produced short that juxtaposes passages from the Qur’an with footage of Islamic-based terrorist attacks and anti-Western speech.

Musings of a Political Junkie

I love politics. Always have, for some reason. Added it as a second major in college, in fact. The intersection of policy and governance with theatrics and histronics typically makes for an interesting way to pass the time. So every four years when a presidential election pops up, I’m into it. Combing through each candidate’s policy positions, vetting and agonizing over their personal history, and dissecting each one’s approach to the rigors of campaigning is a favorite pastime of mine.

The race for the Democratic nomination this year has been many things. Riveting and spellbinding, sickening and petty. We’re in a state of fatigue right now with both candidates. For Clinton, the chorus of boos and admonitions to her to get out of the race are growing louder by the day. And for Obama, the shine is now off, thanks to the politicization of his preacher’s incendiary comments. Where to now?

The smart money’s on Obama to somehow amass those 2,140 delegates needed to cinch things up and battle McCain in the general. But how’s it all gonna play out? He likely won’t reach the magic number before the convention, and HRC is vowing to beat every dead Democratic horse she can in pursuit of the nom. Some proposals are being floated to convene the superdelegates before the convention, which would aim to unify the party before August and tee up the fight with McCain before more time is lost.

It’s sure to be interesting; it’s been nothing less so far. Taking the long view, we’ll either have a black man or white woman as candidate for POTUS. This is not a trivial matter. We’ll have a war hero and widely respected senator on the right, though he’s not the maverick darling he was years ago.

I’ve been hoping for an Obama-McCain general for some time, and it looks as if that will come to pass. Question is if HRC has one or two more tricks up her sleeve in the meantime.

I really hate hitters. They’re goofy. They’re trying to get me, to ruin my career, so I hate them.

I dislike arguments of any kind. They are always vulgar, and often convincing.
